Mattie's First Tooth

It happened much sooner than expected. Mattie has her first tooth. It came about 2 months earlier than the average tooth and we had no idea it was there. Kim was holding her this weekend and noticed it first. She said "Shannon, can you come her and verify what I already know to be true?"

I couldn't believe. Other than drool (which all babies do), and some other symptons that got mixed up with the ear infection symptons she already had, we had no idea she was teething. (Yes, we are parents of the year, we know.) She was totally silent about it. Hopefully the others will come in as uneventful as this one. We can only be so lucky.

The picture is of her first two teeth. It took almost two weeks from the time they both came in to get a picture of them.

Mattie's New Room

We don't have a lot of space, but we managed to rearrange the apartment so Mattie could have her own room. Thanks to Aunt Kim for helping us this weekend! We couldn't have done it without you. Here are some pictures of Mattie's room. Of course she still has the elliptical machine and one of daddy's bookcases in her room, but it works - for now. We hung heavy curtains over the doorway so she can have some privacy.

I know you are thinking "why don't they just move into a bigger place?" If you knew how good we have it and how complicated it is to find an apartment in LA, you wouldn't ask. We are excited about the new set up and so is Mattie. She's sleeping through the night which makes us a happy family.

Four Years and Still Going

Mike and I are about to celebrate our 4 year anniversary on the 21st. We are thrilled because Grammy and Pops (Mike's Parents) are going to be here so we can have a grown up dinner together and hopefully a movie (or two...or three...). Having a baby definitely takes movie night out of the equation. Which is hard when you have so many cool ones coming out this Summer. I don't know how we will possibly choose.

We are looking forward to our second date night since having Mattie. We got to go out once before when Grammy and Pops were in town, but she was only 2-weeks old so we didn't go far or stay out very late.

Yeah us!!!

Mattie at 5 Months

Well, I don't know how it happened but we have a 5-month old. It feels like we just had her. Of course that was 25 pounds ago for me and 7 1/2 pounds for Mattie so I guess it's been longer than I think. She's growing like crazy. We started her on rice cereal this weekend. We were prepared for the worst but actually she didn't mind it. She ate a lot more than I thought she would and didn't have much on her. I'll brag now because I know that is going to change. I think the antibiotic she took over the last couple weeks got her ready for food. She had to drink a ton of it (so it seemed) and we gave it to her through a syringe. Maybe the practice she had drinking that helped her accept the spoon easier. Don't know, don't care. It was successful and that's all that matters.

I'm working on getting the video of the first feeding (as well as some others we've taken) online so you can see. Here's a snapshot of last night's feeding.

Hopefully with the technology we have these days, we can all stay connected. It is amazing. If you want to see more pictures of Mattie at 5 months, go to our online web albums.
